About Yelapa, Mexico

The rental house,
Casa Aramara, is located in
Yelapa, a quaint peaceful village
in southwest Mexico in the southern part of the Province of Jalisco. The picture to the right shows the view of Yelapa
from the terrace of
Casa Aramara.
Part of the charm of Yelapa is that it is accessible
only by boat - no roads lead to Yelapa. Water
taxis leave for Yelapa from Puerto Vallarta several times a day. The trip takes about 45 minutes.
Please note: the last boat leaves at 5:30 PM, so arrange your flights accordingly. More information is
available at
www.yelapa.info.
Yelapa is
rural Mexico at its finest. Electricity only recently reached Yelapa.
If you are a Four Seasons, all inclusive, type of person, Yelapa may not be for you. If you enjoy
a little adventure, breathtaking
views, beautiful warm beaches, the sounds
of the jungle (and the sounds of a rural Mexican village), and fun, then Yelapa is definitely for you!
Yelapa has a greater variety of birds than anywhere in North or South America.
Activities include:
- river trips into the jungle
- fishing trips,
- horse or mule back riding,
- boat trips to the Marrietta Islands,
- snorkeling,
- para-sailing, and
- para-gliding.
Yelapa is world famous for
para-gliding, (without the boat and rope)
Soar with the Tijera birds. I hear it is an incredible trip.
There are about a dozen different
restaurants, each open a few days a week. You can also visit a
hopping nightclub at the Yacht Club, where everyone goes Wednesday and Saturday nights for music and dancing
and mingling.
